About the Role
Location
Head Office, Blantyre
Purpose:
The Systems Administrator will maintain and administer FINCA Limited (Malawi)’s networked system of computers. The System Administrator’s responsibilities include troubleshooting, hardware, software, and networking issues, as well as ensuring that all computing operations run with optimal performance and security.
Accountabilities:
- Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications.
- Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularly.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise.
- Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary.
- Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
- Researching and recommending new approaches to improve the networked computer system.
- Providing technical support when requested.
- Documenting any processes which employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system.
- Manage network servers and technology tools.
- Set up accounts and workstations.
- Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
- Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.
- Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
- Manage Active Directory and Office 365 applications.
- Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
- Support Core Banking System operations.
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
About the Candidate

Ideal profile:
- 3+ years of experience within a technical support environment, including hardware, software, and network support.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- An MCSE /CCNA/CCNP or Linux Certified is added advantage.
- Experience in the use of routers, switches, hubs, and other network interfaces.
- Proven ability to resolve networking problems efficiently and effectively.
- Previous experience as a network administrator.
- Knowledge working with Linux and Windows Operating Systems
- Network Storage platforms awareness
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
- Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment.
- Proven ability to balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Fluency required in English.
- Prior experience working in a telecom industry is an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
- Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed.
- Installation and Maintenance of internal infrastructure requirements including, laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
- Interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
- Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups.
- Experience with databases and patch management.
